The Longfellows; Five gents knotted by haircuts, tight fitting clothes and sparse facial hair. With a love of songs by such gems from The Arctics to The Monkees, Grohl and Lennon to The Stones and Arcade Fire, Lional Bart and 90's hip hop to Maccabees and Kinks - a real bubble and squeak of noise. Seasoned well with poetry, innovative sharp beats and modern sounds, the chaps hail from London and the South East. Songs about grey days, bad smells from unsavoury characters, badly dressed and unimpressed. Hints of humour tints of anger, very little love and touches of aesthetical commentary.
Having played together for nearly 4 years, the back catalogue is large and tight, and songwriting flows like Famous Grouse in a basement on a Friday. Gigs range from local sell outs in Kingston and Wimbledon to the charity shop smelling 100 Club and the fabled Half Moon Putney on many occasions. Dropping down from the headline slot only occasionally (gracious) to be support for bands such as British Sea Power, The View, Hot Club de Paris and I Am Arrows.
2011 has been filled with re-jigging, gigging, recording, writing and mild smiling - lining up 2012 to be a full blown Cheshire cat grin. Available on iTunes with a hard-hitting five track EP released on Venti Venti Records, plans are leaking from every nook and cranny.
Listen on, shout it from the rooftops, get involved. Always be proud, be a Longfollower.
